Calgary, one of the largest cities in Canada, is home to over a million people, the largest city in the province of Alberta, and a great place to live. For the past couple years the city's housing market has been stunted a bit by the global recession. Those with money were interested in hanging onto it, and no one wanted to invest in the real estate market. However, over time, this trend has started to reverse itself. The city's economic fortunes have changed and more and more people are beginning to trust the markets again.

There a lot of Calgary houses for sale, thanks to continued development in all quarters of the city. And with new jobs being created by the federal government and renewed interest from major oil producers in several globally scaled oil & gas initiatives, there are once again people willing and ready to fill them.

Many regard Calgary as being one of the most picturesque cities in Canada, as it is set amid the beautiful foothills and prairies in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. Calgary has a great reputation as a city that combines beauty with utility, giving its residents a great opportunity to enjoy the best of nature, while still being able to take advantage of some excellent business opportunities.

Calgary is notorious for being able to handle all walks of life. There are some great luxury estate properties along the Bow River, for the affluent immigrants. Additionally there are some excellent penthouse apartments and lofts in the downtown core, and some great lakeside properties, and many new homes being built all the time throughout the city.

Young people, with young families, who are interested in finding work downtown but don't want to have to commute a long way will be happy to hear that more and more of the mature communities surrounding downtown are being redeveloped for this exact purpose.

In the end, Calgary is a great city with a lot of excellent real estate for anyone seeking the perfect home in one of the country's nicest cities.
