Large warehouses can be very vulnerable to nuisance bird infestations. Warehouses that deal with the supply and delivery of food sources such as grains and flour are particularly susceptible to nuisance birds due to their large bay doors offering easy access to a regular food source, especially when these doors are left open for the majority of the day.

Birds that are looking for food will boldly enter a building, particularly pigeons. If they have found an open entrance to a building that contains food they will quickly begin to gather in flocks whenever possible. If a constant food supply is available to a pigeon through spilled grains or flour they will find their way to it and eventually nest in the building. When pigeons have nested inside a food warehouse a business can begin to suffer with the financial losses of missing food.

Pigeons are a particular pest when it comes to invading buildings to find food. A pigeon can travel up to 40 miles a day to find new feeding areas and once a number of birds have flown to the feeding area it can be very difficult to deal with. With the amount of predators found in these areas at an all time low it is more important than ever to implement some form of bird control.

There are a number of bird control options available which offer non-harmful ways to prevent nuisance birds from entering a building.

One of the most common and most effective bird control methods is the use of bird netting on a building. Bird netting acts as a heavy duty physical barrier which blocks nuisance birds such as pigeons from entering a building or returning to a nesting area. High quality bird netting will be a heavy duty mesh that is both water and rot proof as well as being a non-conductive material. Bird control professionals can develop bespoke netting systems to ensure that a building is fully protected from nuisance birds.
