A building with a doorman can seem like a luxury. But living in a building with a doorman also has many practical advantages. So, in addition to making you feel important, there are other factors to think about if you are considering moving into a building with a doorman.

When thinking about living in a building with a doorman, understanding a doorman's job can help you make a better decision. It can also help you see the advantages of having a doorman.

The biggest advantage of having a doorman is the safety factor. Your doorman provides a very important part in the security of your building. He is consistently monitoring those that come and go from the building.

When someone unexpected decides to drop by, the doorman will be very quick to let you know by making a simple call to your apartment. Thus, you have the possibility of indirectly refusing a visit and therefore use the doorman to screen visitors.

That being said, if there is someone that you no longer want visiting your house, whether it is a salesperson or even an old flame that won't leave you alone, you can give your doorman instructions to refuse them entry and you don't have to worry about them anymore.

Another great advantage of a doorman is he will always get your mails and deliveries, as they can sign for your packages when you are not home. Additional to all these, a doorman's job is to pay close attention to all tenants and when he notices something wrong with any of them, he can check on them to ensure they are fine.

In addition to holding the door, providing extra security, and acting as a human detector, a doorman can also help you with your luggage or shopping bags. He can even call a cab for you if you need one.

You can see that there are many advantages to living in a building with a doorman. Though you may not see the necessity, you can certainly see the many benefits that a doorman can provide for the comfort and safety of your home.
